Thoughts on Leadership in Nigeria
By Yomi
In regards to Leaders and govt. in general, our expectations are too high. It seems like we are expecting the second coming of Moses, Jesus and Mohammed to come in and lead us to an utopia land. We forget that these guys are human beings, who are selfish, greed and egotistic by nature. Anyone who aspire to become President of country even has a higher dosage of those attributes, but do get me wrong oo. GREED, SELFISHNESS & EGO are good. They are what make us all get up the morning to want do better, to be different and to innovate. Therefore, my approach is channel those energy in the right direction.
If you look at any economical successful society, it has an equal amount of people that desire to acquire wealth, fame and power as Nigerian so call Leaders. The difference is in the means to get there; are you going to get into the govt at all cost, because that is the only place the
money/power/
The expectation that the government will fix all our woes is one that the next sons & daughters will still be talking about, because government is not design to innovate, to run an entity or to transform a society. Government purpose are to create an environment for its people to innovate and to ensure equity to all in the process. Case in point the cell phone business, now over 40% of nigerians can communicate whereas less than 1% of households had land line when Nitel was running communication show. So I am an advocate of privatization of anything and everything that the government currently run, while we allow the govt to maintain an over sight on over it to maintain fair play.
Therefore my dear friends, I am ready to jump on a band wagon of any candidate who wants to minimize the role of government in the society. There is no knight in shinning armor coming to rescue us, if s/he shows shoot him down..we need them;OLD Gizas..to get out of our way, so we can apply energy of greed/selfishness/
