OBJ v Atiku

When will we hear the last about this issue...Still on this OBJ v Atiku case, enough has been said about how deplorable the verbal attacks have been blah blah blah, a few Nigerians have chipped in their two cents, some comments are quite predictable, (why are they doing this, lets keep it on the low low in order to maintain the present status quo). Others on the other hand have been quite silly and typical of the present crop of influential Nigerians. Rimi went as far as saying that OBJ is not showing enough gratitude to Atiku for being party to getting him into Aso Rock in the first place. My take on this is; where is the interest of the Nigerians in these types of commentaries? Other countries such as India, formerly classified alongside Nigeria as third world countries, are steadily making breakthroughs in science and technology, while 'we' are caught up with these issues.
The press is caught up in hyping this personal attacks, while nobody is asking the important questions, "where is our money?' Both leaders are obviously looters we just want our money returned to us, and they can duke it out whichever way they choose. Just gives us our Payola, its ours.

The comment below though a bit incoherent makes a little sense to me, we stand to gain something from all this mud slinging.

‘It will enhance transparency’

Tayo Oyetibo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria believes that there is somthing to gain from the rift. If this controversy will lead to transparency in the conduct of government affairs, it is good. But at the same time, there is need for due process to be followed in everything that should be done in this matter. So, the whole thing borders on transparency and due process. Transparency in the conduct of government affairs would benefit this country so much. At the same time, due process being followed is also a plus.

But the concern here is the type of conflict and statements and counter statements being made by one against the other. From the point of view of politics, it is not good but I don’t see this affecting our elections in 2007. Nigeria is bigger than the President and the Vice-President and the fracas between them cannot affect the way things are being done in this country. So, we cannot equate the interests of the two of them to the interest of Nigeria.
