Nigeria /- Wifi Bus

Will this work in Nigeria? A wifi bus. Picture this, a bus pulls up at the weekly market at the Igbo-elerin market square. Kids gather around it like it's an all you can eat ice-cream buffet. Mothers gather round like its the latest round of village gossip, while the men draw closer like it is a strategy meeting for the forthcoming new yam festival. A bus with wi-fi signal, yay! Probably loaded with a few of, the much talked about, 100 dollar laptops. Sahidi can now get his fix of Britany Spears news, while Kasunmu the welder finally gets the answer to the question that has been tugging at him all day; Who won the American Idol?
Will rural internetification (yay I just made up a new term.. copyright please) work in Nigeria? If it works, is there any use for it? What uses can my people put this type of services to?
I asking, I see one of those foreign aid guys selling this idea to us pretty soon.
I think the email idea is pretty cool though, why didn't I think about this before now? (Rush me a business plan somebody...off to Nigeria... Ministry of what what what!..show me the money.)

....Ministry of Science & Tech, actually; but I must warn you, they are very Idea-o-phobic. ask Sir Victor Uwaifo, who wanted to be remembered for a home-made Naija automobile but was asked to stick to Joromi.
Hey.I got my own Neologism right up there.

kulutempasaid...

it'd work just because village life is so drab and nothing tends to happen: the bus with the computers will forever be a welcome novelty. and, being nigerians, they would even be willing to forego their morning akpu to be able to make inyanga for their less well-off neighbors, who can't afford to check out the footie scores. in related news, i love how short wave radios are still very popular in the village. i need to get me one of those.
