Is TINA Nigeria's Worst Enemy?...

When it comes to mobilizing individuals for action, TINA is a formidable force to reckon with. As I watched and read the play by play reports of the gubernatorial elections. I was stricken with grief as it became obvious to me how much hold TINA had on the heart of my people. Chipila wrote about men and women sitting in front of their homes, doing nothing, watching such a great day slide by. I am sure some young men had a good game of monkey-post soccer on the streets too. I hope the game was a high scoring one, because when they resort to whining about the state of the affairs of Nigeria, such individuals should remember how they traded the possibility for change for an afternoon of soccer.
The TINA" ('There Is No Alternative) approach to the destiny of our beloved country has become so strong that it has gripped the hearts of our young. We are a people looking for the evidence of change before we bother to support any initiative of change. Asking Nigerian to stand guard and vote is like enrolling my people into a 'say no to gravity campaign'. Since the outlook for success is so bleak why bother signing up.
Our destiny as a country is in our own hands. Before now we could blame our country's woe on the military, right now we have only ourselves to blame. The politicians are only as strong as the might which the people have handed to them. Okay, I take that back, Nigerian Politicians are as strong as the might that their, ill gotten, monies can purchase. While we query and and debate the results of last weekend's polls let us all get off our behinds and vote in the forthcoming presidential elections. Lets get closer to TATA (There Are Thousand Alternatives) and say not to the TINA.
By the way isn't this arrangement where the too elections are two weeks apart a bit funky?
Had to ammend this post, I just read Grandiose Parlor's post and it appears there were large turn-outs in some places. Oh well dangers of reporting from a distance. My people should fight for their votes then. I remember during the SDP/NRC elections my dad and I stayed back to help the NEC officials, it was an eye opening experience for me.

Martin Luther Omodudu. Why do you bother about Nigeria so much?

Ugo Danielssaid...

Omodudu, people came out to vote in large numbers. he only problem is PDP threw their votes away and hoisted an unpopular candidate on them.

Its is sad!

Nillasaid...

I like TATA and maybe we can include TAMA (There are Millions of Alternatives).

Blackchild, people came out to vote. Believe me, I was there and I saw a ot of people queue up and vote (even in the rain) at the places where elections held.

This has been the largest turnout since June 12 1993. But the irregularities are unmatched.

TINA without question is our worst enemy

Omodudusaid...

I apologize for assuming that Nigerians didn't turn out. I am glad they turned out, however the lessons for this Saturday is "guard your vote" abi?
What is with the talk about postponement of the elections? Abeg lets hold our elections jare. If the opposing parties can not do anything on Saturday, they probably can't do anything in anything in the near future.
These folks ought to gang up against the PDP, but their selfish aspirations wouldn't allow them. Pheeew
