Putting Voters In Control...

1. I think Nnamani's suggestion of a two party system makes a lot of sense. Nigeria is not logistically prepared to handle more than three parties in any elections. We should return to the open ballot system, Nigerians do not care too much about privacy, and as a matter of fact anybody that is unwilling to stand up for what they believe in at this point ought to remain at home.
2.Issue one mobile phone per polling station, and the preliminary results is then sent by sms by the electoral officials supervised by the voters, to a National database which is displayed on National Television.
3. The voter's duties are;
a) vote
b) make sure the vote is collated well
c) make sure the exact figures are sent to the National database
d) go home and cross check the figures on the TV.
All other forms of automation should be abandoned. Seriously drastic situations require drastic solutions. This phone number can be rented and secured from the cell phone providers. Stealing an INEC phone is inconsequential. Paper copies of results can be distributed randomly to 50 voters.
A friend says I am thinking like an American, that things like this do not work in Nigerian. What do you think?

Wow.. this is unbeleivable I just won 100000000 Great Britain Pounds from the Microsoft Lottery. I was contacted by microsoftclaims06@yahoo.com.hk , When did Microsoft buy yahoo. Hmm.

Bososaid...

I agree with you on the two party system. I think having 24 people running for president, and then watching one person get 70% of the 'vote' is a joke.

Nillasaid...

I think 5 or less than 5 parties make sense.

ijeoma obu iheomasaid...

the two party system does make sense.. but as always with Nigeria.. the seneseless things are more easily adapted
