A Strong Black Man Who Knows When to Cry..
I listened to this blog post on radio, thought I'd share it with you guys. Oh yes blogs have made it into the mainstream big time. The line gets increasingly blurry everyday.
It was looking to be a bad week for black men "up top" — brothers ascended to high places.During the weekend there was (Your Sexuality) tour, emceed by gospel singer Donnie McClurkin, who says God delivered him from homosexuality (John, I really do not see whats shameful about this though, but hey! -Omodudu's addition). Time Warner had to deny rumors that CEO Dick Parsons might be on his way out. And now , or the golden parachute, at Merrill Lynch...."I thought you said strong black men don't cry." To which I reply: "A really strong black man always cries when he's talking about how much he loves his family." ...There are, of course, millions of Donald Drivers out there. They quietly go about their business of being strong black men. It's unfortunate the media tends to focus on black men when they're acting like, or actually being, thugs. Or only after a Jena Six-type miscarriage of justice.

Why is it shameful ?
well, it's really a 1/10th of a step away from the irrationality of say, the gambian president declaring he knows how to treat aids.
Obama knows better than to sponsor loonies.
The singers claim is still an open case. why is it treated like a closed argument. Though this blog tends to shy away from such debates, in the name of political correctness. Serves Obama right anyway, thats what you get for playing the religion card. He was doing quite well by just beign genuine. Now there is this hint of phoniness. You know the type that adjust strategies to research findings. Voters are just data in this modern version of democracy. You should see my county, in NY party officials are switching party like the seasons fashion.
No, it is really a closed argument.
I wonder if this was a research findings based move though.. The potential gains (black homophobic voters who value homophobia more than say affirmative action or other democratic policies perceived as pro-black) seems very narrow while the looses (gays who vote democratic for whatever reason) is not small.
May be it was a desperate move motivated by exagerated perception of phenomenons like http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2007/aug/29/e29cohen/
