THE MOST EYE POPPING SENTENCE I READ TODAY

Eighteen turbines worth $3 billion are sitting untouched in a Lagos port because the government has no way of moving them to the site of the power stations, he said.

I am sure we as able bodied Nigerians are willing to carry these turbines on our heads and then deliver it where it is needed. Picture this, on one of those environmental sanitation Saturdays(partial curfew), if 1 million of us gather at the docks. We can take turns at lifting these turbines. I believe we can do it. I will be there to serve/sell snacks though. Yes we can.
Now to put the cherry atop this cream, our able VP says he is embarassed that the authorities cut power smack in the middle of his high powered meeting. I'd dare to suggest that this is beyond the state of emergency that he intends to call. I'd skip all of that and call all iron benders in Nigeria to come and put some their foofoo power to good use.

Just the thought of $3billion sitting anywhere is ludicrous, not to talk of Nigeria, why did they buy if they could not get it to the fnal destination? .... enough said because I could go on for days.
Now Mr VP are you for real? lol its kinda funny though, this man has been living in Nigeria right? then why on earth is he acting like this is something new, he's "embarassed" in the midst of their "state of emergency" GET REAL! Is this some kinda joke to get a rise out of people
yeah omodudu I'll be standing right beside you jare helping with the serving and selling of the snacks being the supportive wife that I am lol no lifting from my side.

Why am I laughing over here? Well, God bless Nigeria. It is a special place!

I am waiting for your readers to tell you that it is not easy to move that sort of equipment and provide all sorts of additional excuses for why what needs to be done has not been done.

Omodudusaid...

In a country where bloggers say providing laptops for children is too expensive and a waste.

guerreiranigerianasaid...

*shakes her head*...when does the fuckery end, honestly?...at what point do these people (journalists) get tired of writing such stories or being interviewed (politicians and the like) and pretending to be shocked about it?...

...who plans and spends money so foolishly?...can you imagine if the nation did buy the laptops...then they too could be sitting, unused, waiting for the money to distribute them, or the neighborhood boys to carry them for head to distribute...dunno if i should even waste my energy being angry at this shit anymore...afterall, tomorrow, we'll learn that there are medical supplies, paid for, sitting in some storage in london waiting for naija's government to pay for the container to ship them...*major eye roll*...

Random Africansaid...

next:

"money is stored in treasury, but hasn't been used to pay for stuff because the government doesn't know where the checkbook is"

or better yet:

"checks representing billions of tax revenue waiting in some office because government can't remember its own account number"

who knows, one day they'll discover they have a president, left sitting in Aso Rock because no one has any way to mke him wake up in the morning"

kmsaid...

I am so frustrated with Nigeria right now.

guerreiranigerianasaid...

@random african: rotflmao...hilarious beyond words...i hope it never comes to that...

@all
I wonder why all of you are getting surprise at such news. This is Nigeria.

First, our leaders rarely work for money, they just scoop from the national treasury. So $3billion sitting wasted at the port cannot give them any headache. After all, they can just go back to the treasury and scoop additional fund if they want. Nobody can QUERY them! (Tell me all the scooping during the OBJ era, who has queried them?)
Secondly, the so call turbine is of no personal benefit to them. The Lebanese are supplying all the needed Diesel Driven Power Generator to important places like Aso Rock, Government Houses in the 36 states, Apo Village e.t.c.
So, who cares whether Omodudu has electricity to power his laptop.
I beg, lets talk about something much more serious.
I cry for my country :-(

lol @ Gnaija. You used a specific word that had me roll right off my chair!

major lol @ Random african...I am still laughing!!!!!

And, sadly enough, Bro Tee has put the entire problem that is Nigeria in context. Full stop.

But, if you talk about the problems, or even dare complain, people, even those that should know better, will accuse you of cynicism and even unpatriotism.

I think I am going to take a very long vacation from the nonsense that goes on in Nigeria. A break from the wahala is very needed.

Waffariansaid...

Hheheheheheh, dis story is too sweet abeg, thank you...
