BLACK AND WHITE IN AMERICA
Obama's speech on the role of race in America was rather bold. His post speech interview on ABC was even more edgy. Personally I was pretty bored with the message of hope. I have felt, for a while now, that the time has come for Obama to discuss his ideas in details. I know very little about Kennedy's campaign, I heard he was a pretty hands on campaigner himself. Obama's speech was the most daring and precise I have heard about issues of black insecurity in America. Skeptics have pointed out that the speech only came after his campaign was at a jam about the race issue. I feel that his decision to make the speech, even against his strategists counsel is a risk that no other candidate will be willing to take. Notwithstanding the fact that the possible collateral damage on Obama is significantly higher than any other candidate. I see a candidate that was genuine and upfront. I wish more politicians will take a cue and stop dancing to the tunes of pollsters. I hope we can get back to the economy now. how will Obama make going to work in the morning worth looking forward to, once again. ** sent from mobile**

Obama is the best thing to happen to America in a long time. Sure there's concern about him lacking content in his campaign. But i don't think there is a better alternative. We don't want political dynasty families ala the clintons. It breeds corruption and dictatorship. Let's hope history is made with this man who in spite of the negative stereotypes attached to his racial origin, has dared to stand up as an individual. He has broken out of the mould to be an inspiriration to people everywhere regardless of race or creed.
i am off to youtube. this is one speech I have to hear. I have been reading reviews on it all day and so far they echo your sentiments. I think I need to start with what led to it in the first place. brb
i heard about this speech...will drag myself to read/listen to it tomorrow or so...
I felt the same way after hearing the entire speech he gave...how daring can a man get? It's only a great leader that can dare to address an issue so crucial and pertinent to the society today...RACE.
And I think he did an aboslutely great job...ranging from the things he said about his white grandmother who raised him up and how she feared going out on the streets, right to his Kenyan roots and history in slavery. And finally, putting everything together he emphasized how the issue shd not be focused on "black" or "white" but on the economy and other things...
BOLD...
