If Liberia and Sao Tome are "in play," perhaps it would be wise to do more than sit idly by and "watch to see the outcome." As African people (whether from the Continent or the Diaspora) we should be pro-active in working to avoid the calamity that will come with the presence of Africom in Africa. We should do all that we can to help Liberia and Sao Tome steer clear of any enticements to swallow the poison pill of a U.S. military presence. It is the same moral imperative as we would have to steer a family member clear of a dangerous drug.
